generations. Position Summary The assistant comptroller assists the
company comptroller in the day-to-day accounting of assigned
companies. S/he provides all departments and department manager
requested information in a timely manner. S/he is responsible for
auditing and reconciling assigned accounts and report results and
discrepancies to the comptroller. S/he assists comptroller in
month-end closing procedures & reporting. S/he is responsible for
nurturing and cultivating a positive culture and work environment
that aligns with the mission and values of the organization.
Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities
- Assists comptroller in completing a financial statement for
each company by the 10th day of each month .
- Interprets and analyzes financial statements and accounting
schedules on an ongoing basis, reports findings to
comptroller.
- Review and submit daily floor plan payments. Add vehicles to
flooring when needed. Provide support during floor plan audits.
Post monthly flooring interest statement.
- Research and records daily banking transactions in DMS.
- Interfaces with outside audit firms, banks and lessors,
casualty/liability insurance agents, credit card companies, and
collection agencies as assigned.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts including bank accounts,
factory payable accounts, reserve accounts, and sales tax
accounts.
- Aids with outside audit firms, banks and lessors,
casualty/liability insurance agents, credit card companies, and
collection agencies.
- Calculate, review, and post F&I Chargebacks.
- Gather and submit required data to manufacturers and other
reporting entities such as NCM.
- Add and delete fixed assets and managed depreciation schedule
as needed
- Automates all possible systems and establishes control
procedures.
- Review accounts receivable and accounts payable schedules. Work
with respective team members to address any outstanding
issues.
- Safeguards assets and assures accurate and timely recording of
all transactions .
- Effectively communicates and enforces operating policies and
procedures and assures compliance with all federal, state, and
local laws and regulations applicable to the company.
- Maintains effective practices and procedures to assure the
timely collection of all data needed to accurately record revenues,
expenses, profitability, financial condition, and other critical
activities.
- Assists in maintaining reserve, accrual, and dealer trade
accounts. Education
- Associates degree, or equivalent formal accounting training
required.
- Bachelors degree in accounting or equivalent degree highly
preferred. Experience
- 3-5 years of accounting experience (GL accounting, AP, AR,
Titles, Booking) in the automotive field required, General Motors
preferred.
- 1-3 Years Automotive dealership sales process or F&I
experience Supervisory Expectations This position does not have
direct supervisory responsibilities, however, this position leads,
trains, and advises the manager. Work Hours Regular work hours are
8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Employee hours vary and are dependent on
business needs. The position is 40 hours per week, Monday through
Friday, with evening and weekends as needed to satisfy the
