Northrop Grumman Space Systems Electronics & Payloads team has an
opening for an Principal Optical Engineer to fill our critical and
specialized technical needs in Redondo Beach, CA.
In this role, the selected candidate will be expected to design,
model, analyze, and test a variety of optical and electro-optical
equipment and systems, including:
Support EO/IR sensor performance analysis and develop sensor
mission requirements through modeling and simulation strategies
Support characterization of sensor hardware for sensor performance
and determination of sensor hardware for meeting mission
Support activities across different phases of a sensor program
including sensor requirements definition, utility analysis and
trades, sensor performance prediction, risk analyses, verification
and validation, calibration and anomaly resolution
Work on sensor models capable of reproducing the effects observed
by actual sensors as deployed
Work with an innovative team that solves unique problems while
using and further developing validated model
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS FOR OPTICAL ENGINEER:
A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of
the below criteria.
The candidate must:
Be completing or has completed their PhD from an accredited
Be majoring in or having majored in a STEM (Science, Technology,
Engineering or Math) degree.
Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher (unofficial
academic transcripts must be provided at time of application by
uploading the documents to your application or profile).
Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
(U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).
Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher.
Previous internship/co-op or other work experience, leadership &
teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and
Salary Range: $111,600.00 - $167,400.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to
base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual
contributions as well as allow employees to share in company
results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be
eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman
