Provide specialized nursing care in a progressive stepdown unit focused on transplant and acute care patients in a dynamic hospital setting. This contract opportunity requires expertise in med/surg and telemetry nursing, with an emphasis on managing patients requiring close monitoring such as those on heparin drips and patient-controlled analgesia. Adaptability and reliability are essential in this fast-paced environment serving critically ill patients recovering from organ transplants and other complex conditions. Key Qualifications: Active RN license with med/surg and telemetry experience Skilled in managing heparin infusions and PCA pumps Preferred: Stepdown or PCU experience and care of solid organ transplant patients (kidney, liver, pancreas) Ability to perform wound and drain care including wound vac, chest tubes, and JP drains Comfort operating equipment such as bladder scanners, Mobilabs, EKG machines, and patient lifts Strong multitasking ability and resilience in a fast-paced clinical setting Location Details:Position is based in Arvada, Colorado, close to Denvers medical hubs. Responsibilities: Monitor and care for a patient caseload with a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:3-4 Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive care on a 34-bed unit Utilize Meditech EMR system for documentation and communication Ensure patient safety using advanced monitoring and lift devices Maintain compliance with unit policies and clinical guidelines This is a contract role with a schedule covering evening to overnight shifts (7 PM to 7 AM). The position demands a dependable nurse ready to step in as backfill for unit coverage.
