Job Description:

Higgins, Hopkins, McLain & Roswell is a busy civil litigation law firm looking for an efficient, organized Legal Assistant. Some experience in a law firm, and preferably as a legal assistant in a civil litigation firm is preferred, but we are willing to mentor and train the right person. Responsibilities:
--- Handle incoming and outgoing filings through CCEF and other court and arbitration platforms
--- Calendar court and other case deadlines
--- Communicate with clients, insurance companies, and experts
--- Draft certain pleadings
--- Review/edit letters and pleadings

Qualifications:

--- Some knowledge of legal software, case management, and docketing programs
--- Organizational skills and communication skills are necessary for this position
--- Candidates should be able to type at least 50 words per minute
--- Must be able to prioritize tasks with demanding deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
--- Able to work full-time in the office. This is not a remote position but can turn into a hybrid position for the right candidate after the first 6 months.
--- Experience working with Microsoft Office products.
--- 1-2 years of prior experience in a civil law firm environment as a legal assistant or paralegal.
--- An associate's degree or some college is preferred; a high school diploma or equivalent is necessary.
--- Newly certified paralegals are encouraged to apply. Every firm has different terminology for its support staff. This may be what you think of as a paralegal position.
