Job Description:

The laser operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the laser and perform dutiesincluding, but not limited to the following; assisting in maintenance on the laser and helping increase efficiency and safetyof the laser to meet the expectations of our customers and the company.The operator must have complete knowledge of the laser and be able to perform routine cutting and troubleshooting efficiently and effectively. The operator is responsible to assist in maintenance of the laser, including preventive maintenance and inspection of the equipment as per the manufacturer and/or company guidelines. This may include but is not limited to periodic greasing/ lubrication, changing of parts, cleaning or other preventative maintenance. The physical demand level of a laser operator is listed as Medium, according to the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, 4th edition, 1991. The essential job functions of the laser operator are exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. A laser operator may stand and walk for 12 hours and push, pull, lift and carry for 6 hours in an 12-hour shift. The operator should have a full understanding of safety of the area and equipment, operation, customer and company paper work, proper stacking, banding and loading procedures, and identifying the expectations of thecustomer and the company. The operator reviews the work orders from the sales department to verify quantities,specifications, process capabilities, delivery schedule, packaging requirements and availability. The operator will beprepared to meet the expectations of both production and professionalism as communicated by the management team.The operator must ensure that the final product is finished and packaged to company and customer expectations. Anyvariance with the expectations of the customer or the company will be communicated and clarified to the appropriatepersonnel. The operator may be called upon to review errors and/or problems and assist in developing a plan and/orcorrective action to reduce errors.The laser operator is responsible for maintaining production goals as determined by demand and as laid outby the Management team. The laser operator should be in daily communication with the Processing Scheduler regardingthe backlog of work and potential short falls in production. The laser operator is responsible for ensuring the schedule fororders is kept and any late orders are reported to the Processing Manager and/ or Processing Scheduler as soon asdiscovered.All employees are responsible for their own safety. Additionally all employees are responsible for the safety oftheir co-workers. Employee responsibilities will include but are not limited to: performing duties in a safe and efficientmanner, properly use and wear required personal protective equipment as directed by the PPE Assessment/HazardAnalysis for the position, report all accidents, incidents and unsafe acts or conditions to their supervisor immediately,make on-the-spot corrections of unsafe conditions with-in their capabilities, make on-the-spot corrections to employeesperforming unsafe acts , and set a good safety example.
