The Buildings Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of approximately 600,000 square feet of buildings, spread across four campuses in Greeley, Fort Lupton, Windsor and Loveland, as well as the Flight Training Center.

This position provides support to trades specialist positions within the Facilities & Operations Department as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Carpentry/Drywall & Remodeling

  • Support alteration work such as rough carpentry and drywall.

  • Assist in demolition, site cleaning, delivery of supplies & materials removal of trash, debris, packing material, etc.


  • Assists others and/or by repairing/replacing electrical items such as: light switches, receptacles, lamps, ballasts, etc.

  • Clean light lenses.

  • Performs electrical preventative maintenance as assigned.


  • Prepares surfaces using tools of the trade.

  • Repairs surfaces for treatment;

  • Applies paint, stain, varnish, or other finishes to walls, trims, shelves, equipment, etc.

  • Applies wall coverings.

Installations & Set-up:

  • Maintain, repair, replace, install equipment found in offices, classrooms, common areas, etc., such as office furniture, shelving, chalkboards, whiteboards, etc.

  • Assist with room/event set-up.

  • Assist with assemble/disassemble event staging.

  • Move furniture, equipment, and supplies during space reassignments.

  • Erect/dismantle scaffold.


  • Assist with repairs/minor plumbing problems such as: plumbing blockage, plumbing fixtures, faucet washers, gaskets, water heaters, etc.

  • Performs preventative maintenance on plumbing systems and fixtures as assigned.

Masonry/Thermal Protection/Doors & Windows/Roofing Systems:

  • Assist in the repair of masonry walls, and related applications.

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on window and roofing systems.

  • Determines methodology to complete assigned tasks.

  • Assist in roof repairs, installation of insulation, etc.

Snow & Ice Removal:

  • Maintain entryways and walkways from snow and ice.

  • Distribute sand, ice melt or equivalent.

  • Inspect areas for accumulations of snow and/or ice and alleviate potential safety hazards.

Floor Coverings:

  • Assist in the installation, repair, or maintenance and removal of carpet, vinyl composition tile, or sheet vinyl flooring.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED plus one (1) year of experience in general labor or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

  • Within 12 months of employment complete safety and operation certifications on the following: forklift, skid loader, man-lift. Knowledge of proper operation, maintenance and repair of equipment used in performing tasks and basic mechanical and electrical principles.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally. Work as a team member and foster a cooperative work environment.

  • Pre-employment physical including a functional capacity and lift evaluation will be required post-offer of employment.

  • DMV report with good driving record and evidence of insurability also required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of proper operation, maintenance and repair of equipment used in performing tasks and basic mechanical and electrical principles.

Depending on the position you applied to (full-time or part-time), compensation listed below is as follows:

  • Full-Time compensation is based on qualifications, experience and internal equity in addition to a generous benefits package. Listed is the minimum starting annual salary which, for a non-exempt position, would be paid on an hourly basis.

  • Part-Time Hourly compensation has a set rate of pay.

  • Part-Time Faculty (Faculty Load and Compensation) in accordance with Aims Community College pay schedule.

The hiring range for full-time positions is up to 5% above the minimum salary stated in the job posting.

Minimum payment amount:


Employees in these positions may be asked to participate in temporary assignments lasting less than 6 months (such as curriculum development, short term projects, meetings and substitute duties) which could amount to additional temporary pay.
