Western Nebraska Community College is accepting applications for
a Theatre Instructor at the Scottsbluff Campus.
WNCC Fine Arts is a dynamic program, enjoying recent growth in
enrollment of Theatre and Musical Theatre majors. A completely
renovated theater and adjacent production spaces opened in 2019.
The 405-seat proscenium theater has a 32-foot turn table,
state-of-the-art sound and LED lighting, and a scene shop separated
from the theater by a sound door.
Responsibilities: Teach a core of introductory theatre courses,
including Acting I & II, Voice and Articulation, Intro to Theatre,
Movement, and Scripts in Production; produce a minimum of two plays
per year; advise students in the major; oversee work study
students. Additional teaching duties, assigned according to the
candidates abilities and interests, may include Stagecraft, Survey
of Theatrical Design, Ballet, Jazz, and/or Tap dance. The ideal
candidate will have the ability to direct, choreograph, and
administer technical aspects (costuming, lighting, set and props)
of productions. Other duties include dual credit teaching of high
school students, program development and student recruitment, and
an ability to work cooperatively with community organizations,
repertory theatre, and area high schools that also utilize the
Qualifications: Masters degree in some aspect of theatrical arts
(MFA or MA) or a masters in a related field along with 18 hours of
graduate credit in theatre, and experience indicating the ability
to fulfill job requirements. Requires learning-centered documented
abilities to deliver effective instruction using multiple media,
including face-to-face, interactive TV, blended, and online modes;
community college teaching preferred. A passion for student
learning and student service weighted heavily.
