OUR MISSIONThe Weld County Jail will accept and lawfully hold prisoners in a safe, humane, wholesome environment that returns people to the community better, or no worse, than they arrived.The Weld County Sheriff's Office offers multiple additional assignments to include:Detective/InvestigationsDrug Task ForceCanine Team (K9)SWAT Team (Special Weapons and Tactics)STRIKE Team (High Impact Task Force)SRT Team (Special Response Team)FET (Field Evidence Technician/Crime Scene Investigation)FTO (Field Training Officer)Drone PilotHonor GuardBomb SquadThe Weld County Sheriff's Office also offers POST Academy (Peace Officers Standards and Training) for our currently employed detentions deputies at little cost to the employee. This POST academy is comparable the ones offered by colleges such as Aims, Front Range and Red Rocks. This is an approximate $10,000.00 savings to our employees. This academy certifies our employees to advance their career in law enforcement to be a deputy sheriff or police officer on the street. Start your career in law enforcement with the best at Weld County!Detention Deputy I is an entry level law enforcement position in which you will receive training to competently work one of three general post assignments: booking, housing units, and roving.Detention Deputy II is a security position demonstrating competency in two of the general post assignments; booking, general housing, special management housing, disciplinary separation housing, and roving.Detention Deputy III is a security position demonstrating competency in three, or more, general post assignments; booking, general housing, special management housing, disciplinary separation housing, and roving.A Detention Deputy relies heavily upon interpersonal communication skills, physical techniques and tactics, and writing skills to safely, effectively, and efficiently manage jail operations. Jail operations include performing activities necessary to maintain the health, safety, security, and welfare of jail staff and incarcerated individuals (inmates). All shift assignments are on a yearly bid basis and we maintain jail functions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.Anticipated Academy:August 29, 2022All applicants will be placed on an eligibility list.The following are the steps for the hiring process:1. Lawfit Video Written Explanation and the online test.You will be asked to select a date for testing at the end of your application (located in the supplemental questions section on your application).Sat. June 25 starting at 8:00 a.m.Sat. July 9 starting at 8:00 a.m.Sat. July 16 starting at 8:00 a.m.Sat. July 23 starting at 8:00 a.m.Sat. July 30 starting at 8:00 a.m.2. After passing LawFit, you will move on to the online test (immediately after you pass Lawfit - same day).We would ask that you have your Background Packet completed and turn it in the day of testing. Use the following link to download, save and fill out the Background Packet .If you are unable to obtain an electronic background packet, we will have hard copy background packets available at the online testing that you may fill out and bring back 5-7 business days.PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL NEED TO GET YOUR BACKGROUND PACKET NOTORIZED IF YOU BRING IT AT THE TIME OF THE TEST.3. Background Check4. Polygraph- scheduled by the polygraph examiner.5. Psychological Exam-scheduled by the polygraph examiner.6. Drug Screen-scheduled by a Sheriff's Office Employee.7. Physical fitness examination- scheduled by a Sheriff's Office Employee.8. Hired.We will be testing on Saturday mornings. Please select a test date (selection is at the end of the application). If you meet the qualifications, we will send you an invite with the details 3-4 days before the test date.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS--- No experience required.--- High school diploma or GED required.--- Must be 18 years of age or older.Detention Deputy I: Previous experience in a position that required high public contact and frequent interaction with co-workers helpful, but not required.Detention Deputy II: A minimum of 12 months experience in a Detention Deputy I position, or equivalent, a passing evaluation score, and successful completion of the current job knowledge test.Detention Deputy III: A minimum of 12 months experience in a Detention Deputy II position, or equivalent, a passing evaluation score, and successful completion of the current job knowledge test.--- The Weld County Sheriff's Office prohibits employees from having visible body markings (including but not limited to tattoos, body art, and branding) on the head, face, neck, hand and fingers (any area below the wrist bone).--- Must be in possession of, or ability to obtain upon hire, a valid Driver's License.--- Shift work required.--- Shifts require working days, nights, weekends and holidays.To view complete job announcement and to apply, use the following link: https://www.weldgov.com/Government/County-Information/Join-Our-Team
