Salary Range: $25.53 - $34.47 HourlyJob Summary:Community Service Officers are uniformed, non-sworn employees of the Police Department. Duties include assisting citizens, investigating incidents such as lost/found property, non-injury traffic accidents, misdemeanor thefts, and working at the Front Desk of the Police Department. The incumbent is responsible for enforcing municipal ordinances on a limited basis, generating reports, documenting actions and taking phone reports; assisting the department by directing traffic when necessary; transporting vehicles for repair; assisting with school crossing guard duties; working with community and neighborhood groups; and transporting dispatch tapes. The incumbent must be able to write clear, concise, and accurate reports, and have excellent communication and customer service skills in dealing with citizens, business owners, vendors, and coworkers. The incumbent may be required to testify in court.The position requires working four, 10-hour shifts (with three days off); working either a day or evening shift; and being available to work weekends and holidays.
